Biomedical Evaluation
Therapists at LPLS use a video solution with specialized software called Dartfish to evaluate, analyze and train patients in using the correct biomechanics for preventing injuries. Dartfish provides the ability to record movements, analyze the video immediately afterwards and use it to create a map of muscular imbalances that need to be improved. Dartfish also allows trainers to draw directly on the screen to help patients focus on specific angles and other movements they need to change in order to achieve this rebalancing.
Kinesiology Tape
Developed during the 1970’s, kinesiology tape is used in conjunction with other therapies at LPLS. Made of nylon and elastic, it mimics the skin’s elasticity and recoils slightly when applied over muscles using a medical grade adhesive. By gently lifting the skin, it decompresses muscles, decreasing the tension and increasing circulation in them. It also provides support for a full range of motion, reduces pain and swelling and improves performance by increasing mobility and helping patients retrain their muscles.
Table Work Sessions
Table Work describes a variety of hands-on therapies performed by physical therapists for patients lying on foam-topped platforms. Table work sessions can include manual techniques of deep tissue massage, myofascial release and joint manipulation as well as stretching exercises to increase flexibility and range of motion. Using data obtained using the Dartfish biomechanical assessment tool, table work is tailored to individual patient conditions such as plantar fasciitis, shin splints, muscle pulls and strains and more.
Premium Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care and table work are similar in that both involve licensed professionals who help manage pain and discomfort using hands-on therapy. Chiropractic care differs, however, in that table work teaches you to perform stretches and other exercises to improve your mobility, while chiropractic care involves manipulations and adjustments to help your body heal itself. Both play a role in physical therapy at PSL where we develop a specific chiropractic care plan for you based on your functional needs at home, at work and at play.
Sports Chiropractic Care
Sports Chiropractic Care, or Chiropractic Sports Medicine, is a relatively new subspecialty of chiropractic care. Like all chiropractors, its practitioners focus on proper spinal alignment and relieving pressure on spinal disks. They differ, however, in that they specialize in the treatment and prevention of injuries without the use of drugs or surgery. At LPLS, Sports Chiropractic Specialists help athletes cope with both the aches and pains of exercise while addressing their body as a whole in order to keep their competitive abilities at peak performance.

Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is integrated as a component of physical therapy at LPLS for its ability to relieve muscle tension and establish a calm state of mind patients can carry over into other aspects of their lives. Massage also helps increase the benefits of therapy by helping patients establish more relaxed breathing patterns, reducing inflammation that may result from intense therapy sessions, and ultimately facilitating a faster recovery. Athletes, in particular, can benefit from regular therapeutic massage to help prevent pain and injuries.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric oxygenation involves the delivery of filtered, pressurized air to patient inside a rigid chamber that floods their tissues and vital organs with oxygen. The increased pressure applied enables blood plasma and other vital fluids to absorb additional oxygen that can then be used by the body for vital cell functions including those required for repair and growth of muscle tissues. For athletes and others, it is believed that hyperbaric oxygenation:
- Improves circulation, brain function and digestion
- Accelerates recovery from injuries and surgery
- Boosts sports performance
- Supports a more rapid recovery from practice
- Reduces the risk of heart attack or stroke
- Facilitates anti-inflammatory processes
- Relieves soft tissue and joint inflammation
Yoga
While there is still much to be learned about the effects of yoga, a 5,000-year- old practice that combines physical postures, breathing patterns and meditation. However, what is clear is that – for many patients – it can enhance the effects of therapy. Some specific benefits that have been observed include improved muscle responsiveness, a more rapid recovery from surgery and injuries, the ability to impact multiple muscle groups simultaneously, and an easing of emotional states that impair patient reaction to pain and recovery.
